But, how do you test it? The Decoder Tester helps you: It's designed for testing decoders before these are installed into a loco. The Decoder Tester is simply hooked up to your digital command station, or the LokProgrammer. It even works well with non ESU decoders! To make this as simple as possible for you, the Decoder Tester comes with useful features: To connect the decoder, there are multiple connections: 6-pin NEM 651, 8-pin NEM 652, PluX22, Next18, as well as a 21-pin MTC interface. Plug it in - Bingo! Decoders with no plug and only wires can be hooked up using the screw terminals. A high quality, 5 pole skewed armature can motor with flywheel serves to check the motor output: It's this simple to test the slow, and constant speed characteristics of your decoder.
